Preschool Projects – Thankful Tree
Okay, back to your regularly scheduled program here at Doodles’ Place. I LOVE fall, and I especially love fall craft projects. I’m not sure whether it’s because there are so many great options for preschoolers or maybe just because they reflect my favorite season, but either way, I love them!
I’m going to cheat and post [...]
Christmas Gifts – Rag Doll
I finally finished the first of three rag dolls that I’m making for the girls. Well, mostly finished. I might add some detail to her dress (my friend Shaina suggested a crocheted chain sewn on in the shape of a flower, which I think sounds really cute!), but I figured I better get all three [...]
How to Make Yarn Octopi
I’ve had a few people ask how I made the yarn octopi for the girls stockings, so here are the directions for those (from Family Fun):
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Scissors
Skein of yarn about 100 yards long
3-inch Styrofoam ball or a tennis ball
5 feet of yarn or ribbon, for tying the braids
Tacky glue
Large googly eyes
1. PREPARE THE YARN: Cut [...]
Three Little Octopi!
Aren’t they CUTE???????
I think I might make the bows on the bright pink and purple ones’ heads a little smaller, but other than that, I’m so happy with how they turned out! Super, super easy project, which is how I was able to get them done so fast, and I’m debating making little miniature versions [...]
Painting with Toilet Paper Rolls
I can’t even remember where I saw this for the first time, but we finally got around to doing it a few weeks ago, and the girls LOVED it. I just gave them each a toilet paper roll and a paper plate with paint on it, and they went to town. First we used the [...]
Simple Crafts
We haven’t been doing as many actual projects these days, but we still try to do arts and crafts several times a week. We’ve been keeping it simple with some favorite stand-bys:
Painting with Glue
Always one of our favorites, the girls love to paint glue onto a piece of paper and stick whatever random embellishments I [...]
Gluing Tissue Paper Flowers, Take 2
There’s nothing my girls love more than gluing. It’s the one activity that is guaranteed to keep them busy for the longest, and I love to watch their intense concentration when they’re working on a project. I’ve shared before that my secret to success when it comes to glue is pouring the glue into a [...]
Something Old…Something New – Cereal Box Monsters
Pumpkin Doodle is really getting into this “Something Old…Something New” mindset. As I was putting away the groceries on Monday evening, she kept snatching up the boxes and excitedly stashing them in the laundry room for a “project”. I had no idea what we were going to do with them, but she was insistent!
Tuesday morning, [...]
Styrofoam Monsters
I first saw this great project over at Polliwog’s Cakewalk, and I couldn’t wait to get everything together to do it with the girls. Today was the perfect day to sit outside and make our styrofoam monsters. The girls chose their own materials from Daddy’s jar of “extras.” I did have to help them with [...]
A Mother’s Day Craft
Here’s an easy and fun Mother’s Day craft, although, admittedly, it’s probably only easy if you have the supplies on hand.
To start, it involves one of my all-time favorite craft supplies: tissue paper squares. I’m addicted to these and have to refrain from buying every color variety that Oriental Trading Company (my favorite source for [...]
