Saving Money on Groceries by Stretching Your Meals: Stuffed Shells

On any given day at the grocery store, you’ll find people carefully comparing prices between brands as they look for ways to cut their grocery budget in the face of a downturn in the economy and rising grocery prices. Our family is no exception to this, and another way I’ve found to save money on our grocery bill is to stretch our meals so that they provide more food for less.

For example, we love stuffed shells, an Italian dish consisting of large pasta shells filled with a ricotta cheese mixture and covered in sauce (recipe below). I’ve never had much luck making my own pasta sauce, so this is not a cheap dish to me prepare.
