Tomato Soup Made Easy

I love tomato soup, but it’s not been something we’ve had as a family much until recently. It wasn’t until this spring that I came up with this brilliant idea (if I do say so myself…), but since then it’s been a weekly treat. It’s a treat for me because it’s an easy, yummy and healthy lunch we all enjoy and it’s a treat for the girls because they think it’s so cool to drink their lunch.

We try to always save the plastic kids cups/lids we get from restaurants. They make good bath toys, sippy cups and storage containers in a pinch!

In May, we started serving our tomato soup in these cups, with a lid and a straw, and it was a huge hit!

And I must admit…

I kinda like my soup through a straw too!

  1. We do the same thing! My girls thought I was crazy the first time I suggested, but they giggled all through lunch! lol

  2. What a great idea for all creamy soups! My DD has trouble getting the last bit out of a bowl. She loves straws, so this is a great tip.

  3. Great idea! My mom had gotten the kids a bowl/straw combo many years ago…I think it got warped in the microwave but I loved it! I will have to try this. We have soup a lot!

  4. Excellent idea! My girls would enjoy this as well. I have not given them tomato soup too often because of the inevitable mess and stains but this looks great

  5. What fun! :)

  6. About the post: Tomato soup is a such a staple at my house too! I grew up with the Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese lunch, and it was ALWAYS a treat. It’s really good with a bit of milk in the soup too ;-) I still make it often - although I’ve never drunk it. That sounds like fun too!

Now on to the fun part:
I’ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award!! I don’t know if you’ve received this award before - if you did, then consider yourself twice as lovely. ;-)

Here is what I said about your blog on my post:
Posts on many aspects of mothering her 3 (almost 4!) girls, including homeschooling. Always has good information and good resources, also found on her Organizing Your Way blog… which I also enjoy… but wasn’t sure about nominating the same person twice, even if on 2 different blogs? Mandi - feel free to post the award on either one, or both..! :) Oh, heck: (and here I go to nominate your other blog.

    Thanks for being lovely! :)

  7. LOVE this idea! Can’t wait to try this out when the weather cools off.
