Handprint Calendars

Note to our parents and grandparents who may be reading this: The following post may contain Christmas present spoilers so you you might want to just skip right past it!

I mentioned in July that one of our favorite gifts we made last year was a handprint calendar using Pumpkin Doodle’s handprints. They got such great reactions last year that I decided to make it an annual tradition, and this year we’ll include Monkey Doodle’s handprints as well, so I’m excited about that.

I was going to upload the calendar templates to Google Documents to save a step for anyone who wanted to make one this year, but the frames get all wonky when I do that, so if you’d like them (I do each month separately so they don’t mess each other up), just send me an email and I’ll send them over.

Instead of making it the exact same each year, I decided to search handprint ideas to come up new ones for this year’s calendar. I included links below in case you’re looking for some inspiration:

January – snowmen (Remember to mix a tiny bit of blue into the white if you’re using white paper or else you won’t be able to see them! Ask me how I know.)

February – hearts

March – shamrock

April – chicks

May – caterpillar

June – bumblebee

July – strawberry

August – sunflower

September – apple tree

October – fall tree

November – turkey

December – reindeer

  1. These are brilliant! I think we’ll be making some at our house.

  2. I really love these as well. I once did cards for 4th July. I did the handprints like you did for Valentines but I painted the palm and thumbs blue, alternating red/white fingers. We also had an issue with white not showing up though :(

  3. [...] were inspired by the Handprint Calenders over at Doodles Place.  We had a good little thing going for a while – about 5 minutes [...]

  4. Mandi - I LOVE THIS - do you mind if I re-post this article over at BD?
