A Cheap, Healthy and Refreshing Summer Drink
Last year someone introduced me cucumber water, and I still love this stuff. It’s amazingly refreshing, and it’s a great way to up my water intake when I notice I haven’t been drinking enough.
To make, simply cut a couple chunks, slices, circles – whatever you want! – and drop them in your water bottle or cup. If possible, let sit for a little while before enjoying (I try to keep two water bottles so that I can let one sit while I’m drinking the other). You can reuse the cucumber slices for a couple of days before replacing them as well, so a single cucumber can easily give you a week’s worth of cucumber water.
I know it sounds odd, but it’s awesome!

Interesting! Finally, a way to use the cucumber my mom keeps giving me from her garden (besides the obvious solution of just eating it).
I’m going to HAVE to try this. I actually bought cucumber water from Target I think a while ago and it was really good. It never occurred to me to just put some cucumber in my water!
It’s even beter if you add a slice or two of lemon.
I have never thought of this -but it’s a great idea. I love cucumbers. They always make me feel refreshed when I snack on them. Now I’ll have to add it to my water. BR/I just did a post on the importance of drinking more water so this was perfect timing!
hmmm. sounds delicious and makes me think of the rare occasion of going to the spa. I’ll have to try this!BR/~heidiBR/www.heidit76.typepad.com
What an interesting idea! Thanks.
I have NEVER heard of cucumber water before! Sounds interesting, I’m going to have to try it
Try putting a mint leaf or two in with your cucumber.BR/BR/Try strawberries for a change of pace.BR/BR/Lemons limes, natch.BR/BR/I do love the cucumber, though.et
Hmm, never tried that. I do like a slice of any citrus fruit in water though. Grapefruit is delicious, but due to med interactions not for everyone.
Sounds great! I’ve recently become addicted to Reddy Ice, the bagged ice from the grocery store. It’s so good, I’ve been drinking large glasses of iced water throughout the day, when normally I’d be drinking coffee or soda. I love cucumbers, so I’ll give that a try too.
I’ve heard this before but hadn’t gotten around to trying it. Well I have a bunch of fresh homegrown cucumbers on my counter from our neighbor, so I’m going to get some RIGHT NOW!
Great idea - and this is especially timely since just today I posted on my blog how I need to drink more water! Thanks
Now why didn’t I think of that!? We keep lemon lime slices on hand for our water, but that can get boring too. Will try this. Thanks! :)BR/BR/For your daily dose of vintage goodness amp; a bit of silliness, stop by A HREF=”http://anapronaday.blogspot.com/” REL=”nofollow”Confessions of an Apron Queen/A
Thank you. I recently found out I am pregnant and drinking enough water is always tough for me. I have even got to the point of not buying drinks at the store so I would have to drink water. I can’t wait to try this.
It’s so simple and looks beautiful and refreshing too! Thanks for sharing and have a great rest of the week!
Oh! Oh! I just had a flash back to an episode of Gilmore Girls where Loralei gets fooled into going to the spa w/her Mom! She scoffed at the ‘no coffee or caffinated beverage’ rule and declined to drink the cucumber water! LOL!BR/BR/Sounds interesting to me! I’ll have to give it a try!BR/BR/Traci BR/http://mom2threeadoptedsibs.blogspot.com/
this reminds me of when christi’s mom (and maybe christi, too) were on a fruit water kick. actually, were you on that as well?? it took me forever to get the concept of ACTUAL fruit in the water!
Keeping in mind that you need to use organic cucumbers or you will also gain the extra pesticides in the peel - especially if it sets for a day or two. Plastic containers are also an issue - you should never reuse your bottle more than once.
