Today’s Christmas in July post is also part of my “a href=”http://mythreedoodles.blogspot.com/search/label/something%20old…something%20new”Something Old…Something New/a” series. Back in February, I made the girls’ Valentine’s Day mailboxes by turning a Tastykake box inside out and letting them decorate it with foam hearts. When we decided to make cookies for our neighbors last weekend, I figured the boxes would make a great project, and we had time since I wimped out and used ready-to-bake dough. First, we got the cookies in the oven, and then we got to work.br /br /img id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225643584925877650″ style=”DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center” alt=”" src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PoXHVGzLUGI/SIU3J2JORZI/AAAAAAAAAeA/9rnlnU0M5Lk/s320/Baking+Cookies+blog.jpg” border=”0″ /br /I laid out the boxes, and then got some paint ready for the girs. They painted with two colors each (pink/purple and blue/green), covering the box in one color and then adding a second on top, and then I stuck them in the still-warm oven to help the paint dry.br /br /a href=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PoXHVGzLUGI/SIU3J8kwjTI/AAAAAAAAAeI/zCgz9d_AOf8/s1600-h/Painting+a+Gift+Box+small.jpg”img id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225643586651983154″ style=”DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center” alt=”" src=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PoXHVGzLUGI/SIU3J8kwjTI/AAAAAAAAAeI/zCgz9d_AOf8/s320/Painting+a+Gift+Box+small.jpg” border=”0″ //abr /a href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PoXHVGzLUGI/SIU3KFM2ebI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/nbasq5bXOxw/s1600-h/Painting+a+Goft+Box+small.jpg”img id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225643588967627186″ style=”DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center” alt=”" src=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PoXHVGzLUGI/SIU3KFM2ebI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/nbasq5bXOxw/s320/Painting+a+Goft+Box+small.jpg” border=”0″ //a br /I used hot glue to re-assemble the boxes, and we added tissue paper and the cookies, and I think they were such a cute way to deliver cookies.br /br /For our Christmas tins this year, I’m going to let them decorate them the same way and then add ribbons, buttons and other embelishments.br /br /a href=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PoXHVGzLUGI/SIU3KXDvj3I/AAAAAAAAAeY/Vq57Q6tlYTk/s1600-h/Finished+Gift+Boxes.JPG”img id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225643593761263474″ style=”DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center” alt=”" src=”http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PoXHVGzLUGI/SIU3KXDvj3I/AAAAAAAAAeY/Vq57Q6tlYTk/s320/Finished+Gift+Boxes.JPG” border=”0″ //abr /br /br /a href=”http://www.mylivesignature.com/” target=”_blank”img style=”BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none” src=”http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/128/0E4A8EA9D2A4A002FC32D3D163051882.png” //abr /br /––––-–––––-––––––––-–––––––-––––-––––––-–-––––––-–––-–-–––br /span style=”font-size:85%;”Join us this month for a href=”http://mythreedoodles.blogspot.com/search/label/Christmas%20in%20July”Christmas in July/a. I love this idea! We are adapting it slightly and turning cereal boxes into gift bags.
