This classic book breaks down the way couples show and receive love to help them “speak each other’s language.” (There’s also a version for parents/kids called ema href=”http://beta.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href=%22http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1881273652?ie=UTF8amp;tag=doopla-20amp;linkCode=as2amp;camp=1789amp;creative=9325amp;creativeASIN=1881273652″ target=”_blank”The Five Love Languages of Children/aimg style=”BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; MARGIN: 0px; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none” height=”1″ alt=”" src=”http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=doopla-20amp;l=as2amp;o=1amp;a=1881273652″ width=”1″ border=”0″ //em and ema href=”http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1881273393?ie=UTF8amp;tag=doopla-20amp;linkCode=as2amp;camp=1789amp;creative=9325amp;creativeASIN=1881273393″ target=”_blank”The Five Love Languages of Teenagers/aimg style=”BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; MARGIN: 0px; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none” height=”1″ alt=”" src=”http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=doopla-20amp;l=as2amp;o=1amp;a=1881273393″ width=”1″ border=”0″ //em. The love languages are the same, but the way they’re expressed is different.)br /br /strongThe five love languages are:/strongbr /emActs of service /embr /emGifts/embr /emPhysical touch/embr /emQuality time/embr /emWords of affirmation/embr /em/embr /Anyway, there’s uno/u doubt that my primary love language is words of affirmation. Because of that, I find myself looking for creative ways to tell the girls “I love you” regularly. On top of the hundreds of times in a day that I say “I love you” as it is!br /br /One thing that is especially important to me is that they know that I love them unconditionally. I don’t want them ever to doubt that. I want them to know that even when they mess up, I still love them just the same. And my hope is that in my own imperfect way that I’ll be able to convey the perfect unconditional love of God to them as well.br /br /One way I do this is through the “Do I love you because…?” game. Monkey Doodle’s a little too little to quite get it, but Pumpkin Doodle loves to play. It goes like this:br /br /ME: “Do I love you embecause/em you are such a beautiful princess?”br /HER: “No……”br /ME: “Do I love you embecause /emyou’re so smart?”br /HER: “No……”br /ME: “Do I love you embecause /emyou’re so kind to your sisters?”br /HER: “No……”br /ME: “Then why do I love you?”br /HER: “Just. because. I’m. me.”br /br /Sometimes we’ll mix it up with a silly, “Do I love you because you’re a flying trapeze artist?” or something as well.br /br /Every time, even though she knows what is coming, she gets a big grin on her face and starts to giggle. It’s the perfect end to a busy or hard day as part of our bedtime routine!br /br /br /a href=”http://www.mylivesignature.com/” target=”_blank”img style=”BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none” src=”http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/128/0E4A8EA9D2A4A002FC32D3D163051882.png” //a

Hubby and I will ask how full each other’s tanks are. And we’re not talkin’ about dinner!BR/BR/I think it’s important to know what “language” everyone in your family speaks.BR/BR/It helped a lot to understand my elder two boys. (But it may be just Teenageitis. Not sure. Heh.)
