It was really doomed from the start. I used frozen/thawed cupcakes (in hindsight, I should have frosted them frozen!). They were so crumbly, and with every swipe of icing, I ended up with more crumbs in my previously pristine icing. To add to the mess, I also used frozen blueberries and raspberries, which also did not thaw well. Basically, I ended up with a soggy cupcake and a puddle of raspberry juice under the cupcake. I was going to pipe some more white icing between the raspberry rows, but I decided not to because it was already such a mess as it was.br /br /I think that with fresh ingredients, emmaybe/em, these might end up pretty cute, so I may try again for the Fourth of July. I do need to start the flag farther to the left side because it’s kind of falling off the right side. But that was really the least of my worries.br /br /br /a href=”http://www.mylivesignature.com/” target=”_blank”img style=”BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none” src=”http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/128/0E4A8EA9D2A4A002FC32D3D163051882.png” //a

Aww…I’d still eat them (then again, I’m 33 weeks pregnant…lol) Freezing cake is a lesson I’ve learned too when I made Lilli’s butterfly cake…there were crumbs everywhere in the icing!
just out of curiosity…are you making your own frosting? they always look so yummy!
I don’t know, Brittany – they were such a soggy mess. I don’t think the picture really shows how icky they were.
But then again, you ARE 33 weeks pregnant!!!BR/BR/Ha. Kim, seriously, you know me better than that, right?
I usually use Betty Crocker WHIPPED topping, which I love, love, love. This time, Sean grabbed me a jar of something else. I can’t remember what it was, though. It might have still been Betty Crocker, but not the WHIPPED stuff.
I’m sure they taste lovely!! Yummy!!
