Have you had a SuperMom moment recently?
…you know, one of those moments when you feel like you are cut out for this job and you can handle anything that comes your way?
Before I tell you about mine, let me first say that I have lots of the opposite kind of moments – moments where I wonder why on earth God would allow ME to have these beautiful children when I seem so not cut out for it. I had one of those earlier this week, after 2 weeks of illness, a husband who was bedridden with the stomach flu and a baby who felt horrid and just wanted her momma. Oh, and running The One Dollar Give and finishing the work I had committed to and needed to turn in.
That was my horrible, no good, very bad day. I think it was Monday.
Sean has continued battling this stomach flu, and I’ve been playing single working mom to our girls AND trying to take care of him.
And then last night I had my SuperMom moment. It wasn’t getting the girls bathed before dinner and then working on Christmas projects and putting them to bed with a fairly clean house that did it, although that did feel good.
No, it was when I woke up to the sound of Sean calling my name around midnight. He had reached the point of needing to go to the hospital, and so began my mad dash to get dressed, double check the contents of the diaper bag, warm up the car, get three sleepy girls ready to go and drive him to the ER.
We waited with him for about an hour before deciding that I better just take the girls and head home since it was going to be a while. I’m so thankful for my MIL, who said she would pick him up and bring him home when he was released. This story might have ended differently if not for that!
I then put three sleepy girls back in the car – at 2:15am – got gas and brought them all home, put them to bed and crashed. And I felt like SuperMom for pulling it off while remaining calm and kind throughout it all. (Well, kind to everyone except for the cat, who decided to dash in the door and go running through the house…and I wasn’t in the mood at 3:00am to deal with him. He got yelled at.)
