Look at These Tutus!

Two Christmases ago, I discovered the world of “fashion” tutus for little girls, but man, oh, man, are they expensive! I looked, drooled and moved on.br /br /Having given up on finding one that I could justify buying, I was so excited to see both of these posts (a href=”http://zakkalife.blogspot.com/2008/05/too-cute-tutu.html”here/a and a href=”http://ohamanda.com/?p=676″here/a) on making your own no-sew tutu that I immediately placed an order on a href=”http://stores.ebay.com/dreampartycreation_Tulle_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ7683706QQftidZ2QQtZkm”eBay for some tulle/a ($2.25 a roll for 75′, $2.99 shipping for the first roll and $0.75 for each additional roll). Hopefully I’ll have some time next weekend to put them together and share some pictures. I bought pink and green for the first set (yes, of course all three girls need matching tutus!) and yellow and white for the second. I have visions of all three of them sitting in the grass in their tutus for some cute pics!br /br /For instructions, check out Zakka Life’s a href=”http://zakkalife.blogspot.com/2008/05/too-cute-tutu.html”Too Cute Tutu/a and Oh Amanda’s a href=”http://ohamanda.com/?p=676″A Berry Berry Princess/a (how cute is her little girl???).br /br /br /a href=”http://www.mylivesignature.com/” target=”_blank”img style=”BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none” src=”http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/128/0E4A8EA9D2A4A002FC32D3D163051882.png” //a

  1. I’ve done this before…. and also did hairbands (rubberbands)with them too :D The downside is that the tulle always starts to fray/unravel where you cut the strips after a while. Unless you can/want to bind it somehow. It is definitely SUPER easy and SUPER cute!! I had done this after I found some in a pricey kids store and realized how simple it was and a teeeensy fraction of the cost! In fact…. I still have a few rolls of the tulle ribbon I used on the hairbands…. I’ll have to send them in the package I have here for you!

  2. Ooh, what a great idea – matching hairbands for the big girls!!! A package? I like packages! :D

  3. Love them!!! I’ll take two, please. :P

  4. Chrissy- I’ve found that clear nail polish painted on the ends of “whatever may fray or run” really works at preventing damage. (I used to get little holes in my ballet tights - way back when - and after applying a bit of clear polish around the hole, it wouldn’t run)BR/BR/I can’t wait to see how yours turn out Mandi!

  5. That’s a great idea about the nail polish, Brittany…we used to do that to my ballet tights too!BR/BR/I’m wondering if I could seal the tool with a lighter the way I do ribbon?!! It seems like it would be faster than nail polish only because there will be so much of it.

  6. LOL, Tara…if we ever manage to plan a trip…

  7. Thanks for the linky love and the sweet comment!BR/BR/Your girls will love them. Lydia still puts hers on AND the crown AND the magic wand every time we turn music on—she’s got to dance in it! ;)
