Thank you all so much!

Your comments on yesterday’s post were SO encouraging to me, and I truly appreciate every one of your prayers!

As it turns out, yesterday ended up being a fairly good day. The second enema I gave my sweet girl (TMI, I know…) ended up doing the trick, and she seems to be feeling much better. No accidents once that was all cleared from her system!

Pumpkin Doodle spent most of the day feeling lethargic and just laying around, but no more throwing up, which was good for all of us after two full days of it. I’m hoping another good night’s sleep last night will have her back to normal today!

And despite waking up with the girls twice last night, I was able to get back to sleep quickly both times, and I woke up feeling pretty good this morning.

The house has been disinfected and, thanks to this beautiful weather we’re having, aired out, and I’m feeling much better about everything. We’re still praying that no one else gets this icky bug, though!

Have a great day!

  1. Hi Mandi,

I’ve been praying for you! Your post this morning sounds upbeat - I’m glad you are encouraged.
I just wanted to mention trying Miralax for Monkey Doodle’s constipation. Logan has battled constipation before (esp when we were going through potty-training), and the Miralax works wonders. Our ped told us to add 1/2 tsp. to his milk, and stir/shake it in. I believe it’s tasteless (it’s a white powder) and not grainy once mixed in. He never noticed, so it was a much easier alternative to the enemas (which we also tried several times). It is expensive, but coupons are often available for it in the paper, and since the child dose is SO small, it lasts forever! HTH.

  2. Yay!!! All of the Doodles are doing better :)

  3. Glad to hear the family is doing a bit better!

  4. I’m not sure if you still are having constipation troubles with Monkey Doodle, but when I read that I wanted to share something that helped us with our young son suffering from pooping fears and the resulting painful constipation. There is a book we got that I was so glad somebody wrote! It’s called It Hurts When I Poop and is written to children who are afraid to poop on the potty. It’s a cute story, and very gently and tastefully written. Our 3rd son started having major fears of pooping almost a year into potty being potty trained, and would hold it for 3-4 days at a time. But after getting the book and reading it daily (he was 2 1/2 at the time and the book was easy for him but our 5 and 7 year olds also enjoyed the story), along with some set potty times and new foods, it only took a few weeks for him to be totally normal and not at all afraid! (All the other cures we tried softened his poop, but didn’t take away his fears so he still kept holding it!) SO if you are still struggling with issues with Monkey Doodle, and if they seem related to potty fears, you may want to look into the book. It was an answer to our prayers! http://www.amazon.com/Hurts-When-Poop-Children-Scared/dp/1433801310 is the link. It may sound silly, but when you see the fear in your own child over something that should be so simple and natural, it seems much more reasonable that such a book was written.

Anyway. Not sure if that’s your issue or not, but after our own struggles, I feel compelled to share the book with anyone who might benefit from it!

I am glad things are going better for you guys. I sure hope everything stays smooth and peaceful as you head into the coming weeks with a new baby in the house!

    Prayers and blessings,
    Benny

  5. Thanks, Benny & Jenny!

We have her on Miralax twice a day, and I think the issue has been that I’ve discontinued it much too early in the past. She’s always had very solid BMs (even though she eats the same things as her sisters!), and she is very much into controlling when and where she goes, which just complicates it. However, since we got her cleared out, she’s been doing great, and I spoke with a pediatrician friend who recommended I keep her on the Miralax for 6 months, regardless of how well she seems to be doing, rather than discontinuing it too early again, so that’s the plan for now. We’re also working to increase how much water she drinks because I’ve noticed she drinks the least of any of them, and I’m sure that’s a contributing factor!

    Thanks!
